The Promised Neverland has been adapted in practically every medium available with a manga that just wrapped its run, an anime and a live-action adaptation. Set in the near future, the show follows a young orphan named Emma living in an orphanage called Grace Field House. The orphans are treated like royalty, receive a great education and are tested regularly, but the lavish treatment comes with a dark and brutal secret.
There is no word on when the second season of The Promised Neverland will make it to the US or whether the second season will be simulcast, but there are plenty of places to catch up on the first season. The anime adaptation is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, Hulu, Funimation, and HIDIVE.
The Promised Neverland has been popular enough that it’s left streaming services and made its way onto cable television. Cartoon Network featured The Promised Neverland on its regular anime block Toonami. The live-action version is also slated to premiere in Japan in December. The manga for The Promised Neverland manga debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2016, and ended its run on June 15. It’s available digitally through Viz Media and MANGA Plus in English.
The twist is definitely what helped make The Promised Neverland popular as it is, but it’ll be exciting to see where things go once the second season debuts in January.
